About Bulgaria
Bulgaria is in south-eastern Europe and has borders with Romania, Greece, Turkey, Sebia and Mecedonia. It has rich traditions and cultures and the highest Mountain range in Southeast Europe. These mountains are home to rare species of birds and endangered animals which make their home there. Bulgarias first National Park is in the mountains of Vitosha was opened in 1934 and offers breathtaking scenery and is great for walking or exploring.
Bulgaria is very rich in mineral wells and spas and has over 500 wells and sources that are both hot and cold. Along the Black Sea coastal resorts there is also "healing mud" which is a popular tourist trip.

Bulgaria has 4 distinct seasons, the climate in the north is moderate continental, whilst in the south it is more Mediterranean. In the coastal resorts it is milder in the winter and cooler in the summer than the interior of the country.
Bulgarian cuisine is a mix of Greek, Slavonic and Turkish. The basic food used in Bulgarian cooking are beans, yoghurt, cheese, tomatoes, potatoes and fruits such as water melon and grapes. Specialities include shopska salad which has sliced sheep's cheese on top and tarator a cold cucumber soup with walnuts and yoghurt. For dessert there is banitza which is a pastry dish. Bulgaria also has a good choice of locally produced wines to accompany your meal.
